She probes fraught, often muddled family and extended family situations; consults friends, lawyers and other professionals for opinions; scours libraries and DVD shops for inspiration; and also takes a good long look at herself — her early life, her own relationships and her struggles with her appearance. 

Peppered with quirky cameos from the economist, as well as tongue-in-cheek asides on house guest, pets, handbags, toxic friendships and yoga pants . . . it’s a rollicking good read.
