Virginia Zeani: My Memories of an Operatic Golden Age

Virginia Zeani: My Memories of an Operatic Golden Age
Virginia Zeani had three lives.  She was born and lived in Romania in the heart of Dracula country in Transylvania and lived there until the close of the Second World War.   She fled to Italy on a student visa with very little money and soon made a great name for herself as one of Italy's leading opera singers.  Singers such as Maria Callas were frightened of her vocal talent.  Following a hugely successful 34 year career in Italy's major opera houses, along with frequent performances in London, Paris and New York, she retired from the stage and started her third life in America, becoming one of the world's most famous voice teachers.  She is now 92 years old, retired and living in Florida.
